Since graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 1983, I have devoted my practice to serving individuals and families in a wide range of family law issues.

Through the years, I have acted in three capacities. The first is as a lawyer, representing parties in the courtroom or at the negotiating table.

The second is as a neutral with responsibility for evaluating the circumstances of family law parties, such as when I was a guardian ad litem, or for helping clients resolve their cases by facilitating settlement negotiations, such as when I was a settlement conference referee, or providing mediation and early neutral evaluation services. I also act in a neutral capacity when I arbitrate issues or serve as a parenting consultant.

The third is by encouraging the legal community and the public at large to view family law as a transition, which should be proactively managed in a calm and positive way. To that end, I publish the newsletter "Family Law Ripples."

I am also a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Minnesota Association of Mediators and multiple bar associations. I have also been selected for inclusion in Minnesota Super Lawyers every year since 2000.
